MAGNUSSON HELSINKI STRENGTHENS ITS CHINA PRACTICE

2016-01-27

Magnusson is happy to announce that Helsinki-based law firm Pyy Zhong Attorneys Ltd will join Magnusson Helsinki as of 1 March 2016.

With the arrival of attorney-at-law Samuli Pyy-Zhong as partner, Magnusson Helsinki has boosted its capabilities in Commercial, Corporate and M&A as well as the China Practice. He joins together with associate Laura Zhong, adding further strength to our China Practice.

As well as the above sectors, Samuli has substantial experience in Dispute Resolution. His previous experience included practicing as a lawyer and attorney-at-law in a top 10 law firm and medium-sized law firm in Finland. In addition, Samuli has worked in the Satakunta District Court and was Managing Partner of Pyy Zhong Attorneys Ltd.

Laura Zhong is a Chinese-born lawyer who speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese and who studied in the UK. Laura will focus on developing and strengthening the China Practice of the Helsinki office.

We are excited to have been offered the opportunity to join Magnusson. It is a great honour to be part of the renowned legal excellence and commitment of Magnusson towards serving the clients’ needs. Moreover, we feel that we share the same passion to continuously develop the practices needed to offer first class service and understanding with regard to clientele. It is going to be an exciting, Oriental-focused adventure, says Samuli Pyy-Zhong.

I am thrilled about Samuli and Laura joining us. We can now even better serve our clients in their business operations in China, as well as serve Chinese clients doing business in Finland, in their native tongues – Mandarin and Cantonese. This will be an excellent addition to Magnusson’s China Practice and Laura will now be the sixth Chinese-speaking lawyer working for Magnusson, says Tomi Merenheimo, Managing Partner of Magnusson Helsinki.

I am delighted to welcome Samuli and Laura to Magnusson. For Magnusson Helsinki as well as the whole Magnusson team, this move strengthens and deepens what we can offer our clients. It is also a perfect addition and fit for our overall Chinese strategy. For us China is a part of our core business. We continue our efforts to be the leading law firm in the region when it comes to China-related matters, adds Senior Partner Per Magnusson.

Magnusson Helsinki is thrilled to announce the above-mentioned appointments and is looking forward to sharing their skills and expertise with our clients and colleagues in the future.
